We
are pleased to announce that 10 students have been accepted for the
Heart for Africa summer internship program. They will focus on
distribution and reporting of TOMS Shoes and their names are: Britta
Jarvie, Kaylen Knepp, Caroline Dowling, Savannah Vaughn, Jessica
Johnson, Reece Jennings, Garrett Lobaugh, Chase McDaniel, Alyssa Bassir
and Rebecca Johnston. The students will be living in a remote area of Swaziland in a dorm room at The Lodge on Project Canaan for almost 2 months. There will be adults supervision and safety will be of utmost importance to us. The roles of the interns will specifically be managing the distribution of thousands of pairs of new TOMS shoes to children between the ages of 2 - 18 at our partner Children's Homes, in the community surrounding Project Canaan, and working with our volunteer summer teams to distribute in our rural church partner communities.
Internship Requirements:
- must have volunteered and traveled with Heart for Africa in the
past 6 years
- must be a Christian who is actively following Jesus
- be 18 years old or over prior to travel date (June 8, 2012)
- must have a valid Driver's License
- be willing/able to leave from the US on June 8th and return back to the US on August 7th (exceptions will be considered on an
individual basis)
- must be willing/able to raise their own travel funds (flight cost of approximately $2,500 plus $30/day for food and lodging).
- must provide their own medical insurance
