Hunger
Fact:
Every 3 seconds a child dies of hunger/ malnutrition.
Eleven million die each year.
Through our Never Ending Gardens
program, Heart for Africa volunteers have planted over
500,000 backyard gardens.
The cornerstone of Heart for Africa,
the Never Ending Gardens program is designed to empower
the family toward the goal of controlling their own food
supply. The three-phase program provides the family with
the knowledge and tools to start and continue their own
journey to self-sustainable food security through a year-round
rotational garden.
All Heart for Africa volunteers will
participate in planting gardens with participants in the
Never Ending Gardens program during their time in Africa.
Through their participation and the ongoing care of the
gardens by the local families, many families will have
the food necessary to feed their family and a possible
surplus they will be able to trade or sale.
