Spotlight Children for May

Heart for Africa's Child Sponsorship Program provides you the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the life of a child in Africa. Through the child sponsorship program, each child living in one of the children’s homes Heart for Africa works alongside is provided the necessities of life including clothing, three warm meals a day, a comfortable bed, a quality education and much more.

The five children profiled below are hoping for a sponsor to help meet their daily needs. Name: Musa Dlamini
Date of Birth: March 2007
Gender: Male
Country: Swaziland
Children’s Home: Emmanuel Khayalethu
Biography: Musa came to Emmanuel in October of 2007. Upon arrival, the child was critically sick due to starvation and had to be hospitalized for a week and half. Since then he has recovered and is now a healthy little boy. The mother is critically sick and could not take care of the child anymore and he was starving to death.

Children’s Home: Merciful Redeemer Children's Home
Biography: Kennedy came to Merciful Redeemer Children’s Home in 2003 from Machakos. After the death of his father, his mother could not meet their basic needs. He moved together with his siblings to Merciful Redeemer Children’s Home. His siblings are Mary Mtindi, 7 years old, and Joseph Mwangangi, 11 years old. His mother works as a caretaker at the home. Once she lost her husband, she could not afford to raise her three children while living alone

Name: Tabitha Abraham
Date of Birth: July 31, 2000
Gender: Female
Country: Swaziland
Children’s Home: New Hope Center
Biography: Tabitha is so sweet and how she responded as we explained her new name and prayed with her about the role Tabitha had in the early church and was resurrected to continue her life. She smiled on that one and said that after her folks died although her uncle tried to do good she knew she had lost life but now at New Hope Centre she has been resurrected and can have joy once more.

Tabitha is currently unsponsored and needs $120 per month.

Name: Faith Cherono
Date of Birth: June 20, 2005
Gender: Female
Country: Kenya
Children’s Home: Tumaini Children's Home
Biography: Faith was born in a family of four children- Linet, Laurine, and Mercy. They came to Tumaini on Nov, 7th 2007 from Kericho.

Faith was left in the custody of her maternal grandfather who is aging and cannot support the basic needs of the sisters. Faith was orphaned after the death of her mother who died on April, 18th 2006 in the process of procuring an abortion. She died at age 27 years.

The mother was not married, and all of her four children were conceived out of wedlock. Thus they had no father who could take care of them. Their grandfather was forced to take them in, he lived with them until their rescue by Tumaini children’s home.

The girls have difficulty with speaking Kiswahili, nevertheless they are picking up promisingly.

Faith is currently unsponsored and needs $120 per month.

Name: Mbongiseni Msibi
Date of Birth: May 10, 1997
Gender: Male
Country: Swaziland
Children’s Home: El Shaddai
Biography: Mbongiseni has been at El Shaddai since 2002. His grandmother was very ill and asked El Shaddai to take care of him. The grandmother was trying to care for 11 grandchildren. He sometimes visits her during the summer break. He is a fun-loving, respectful young boy with a serious look about him. Although he does not like to smile for photos, he smiles and laughs frequently in day-to-day life. He recently completed Grade 4 at El Shaddai Primary school and finished in position 8. He tries hard in school and is serious about his schoolwork. He has a winning personality.
