Beds for Kids

North Forsyth Young Hearts is up to something big and we’d love to tell you about it, and invite you to join us. There is an orphanage within Kenya known as Merciful Redeemer and it is in desperate need of beds. The orphans are accustomed to sharing a single bed with multiple children. While this is a lot in itself, the beds they have to share are rusty and old and they often times sleep on the springs without a mattress.

The NFHS Young Hearts team has been raising funds to purchase one hundred new beds, which cost $115 each. The beds are bunk style twin beds and they will be put together by some of the North Forsyth Young Hearts along with other team members planning to travel to Kenya July 7 – 17. Each bed will come with its own mattress and a blanket.

Merciful Redeemer’s sixty plus children are going to be moved into their new home this summer. They currently live in a harsh, unsanitary, unsafe environment bordering Kibera slum. The children will be moving to a beautiful piece of farm land recently purchased by generous supporters. Seven acres of green grass with lots of space for growing vegetables and caring for milk cows too. Funds are being raised by Heart for Africa and other organizations to relocate the children to their new land this summer. The new facility will have room for 100 children. That means 30+ children will be able to come off the streets and live in safety where they will be loved, cared for, educated, and have healthy food to eat everyday. With your help, they will also have sturdy, soft, clean, warm beds in their new home.

The North Forsyth High School Young Hearts group is working hard to raise enough money for all this to happen because they care, and they know that these children need help. This project, however, is too big for the group to accomplish on its own. So we are inviting you to be a part of this mission, and in doing so you will be changing the life of a child by giving them a warm, safe place to sleep at night.

Please join us. We’d love to work together with you and make a difference for these children. Only $115 and each child will have their own place to sleep each night. It’s something each one of us enjoy every night, let’s make it happen for the children at Merciful Redeemer too.
