Q: What is the cost of monthly child sponsorship?

The cost per child is $120 per month and can be provided by 1-4 sponsors. You may choose monthly support of $30, $60, $90 or $120 based on your budget and financial ability for support. Minimum sponsorship is $30 a month, or $360 a year.

Sponsorship contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and one annual tax statement will be issued for all your annual contributions early in the New Year in time for tax preparation purposes.

Q: What does sponsorship help provide for a child?

Full sponsorship covers 100% of all a child’s needs within the home he/she is living. A loving home environment with caring staff who provide a high standard of care, private or public school education depending upon the home, health care and supplemental nutrition, nourishing meals three times a day, clothing and essential necessities, and opportunity to learn important life skills. Most importantly, the child you sponsor will hear about Jesus and be encouraged to develop a lifelong relationship with the Lord.

We hope to provide you with ongoing communication with your sponsored child. Please understand that communication back and forth from Africa can be challenging. We hope to provide opportunity to exchange personal letters, drawings and photographs directly with your sponsored child. The opportunity to visit your sponsored child on a Heart for Africa trip to your child’s home.

An opportunity to combine your contributions with those of other sponsors to enable improved life of your sponsored child and the home where they live.

Q: How do I write my sponsored child?

Your sponsored child will love receiving letters from you and longs to get to know you. Remember these children have no parents so they will often consider you as their true family. He or she will enjoy hearing about your family, your favorite activities, and about where you live. The letters should be mailed to the address listed below. Remember to include the name of the home as well as the child’s full name. All letters are read first by Heart for Africa US staff then carried to the child on an upcoming Heart for Africa trip to the home. You may include appropriate photos with your letter. Please do not include gifts with your letters. Gifts will not be sent to the home and will not be returned to you.

Q: Will my sponsored child write to me?

When you write to your child, they will often send a response. You will receive these letters or cards at various times throughout the year.

Q: Can I visit my child in person at the home?

Yes and a visit would be a priceless experience for you and your sponsored child. Heart for Africa organizes annual trips to each sponsored home. The trips are detailed in the trips section of the Heart for Africa website. You can work alongside your child during these 11 day trips and truly serve the home as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

Q: How long will my sponsorship last?

The goal of the Heart for Africa Child Sponsorship Program is to equip and supply daily provision for a sponsored child and his or her home. The sponsorship may last for many years as the child continues through schooling into adulthood. So you might enjoy years of relationship with your sponsored child. The length of time your child needs your assistance varies with each situation. When the child is equipped and ready for life independently, you will be notified and be given an opportunity to sponsor another child within the home.
